Kind Words from Pranayoga Students:
"Steven is an awesome yoga teacher. His style of yoga, Pranayoga, engages the breath and body in an active yet meditative journey into the core of the being...After just a few months of only once a week practice in his class, I have made incredible progress."
"I consider myself lucky to have an opportunity to have Steven for a teacher. He is extremely devoted to his doing and genuinely concern for progress and health of each and every of us."
"I had not done physical exercise in years and was experiencing many of the aches and pains as well as restricted movements that come with aging. Steven's classes (Pranayoga Breathe and Release) have helped me feel years younger and improved both my mental and physical health"
"Steven has been teaching me and two friends in a semi-private class since February of this year and my recommendation of Steven could not be stronger...Steven encourages us to stretch our minds as well as our bodies, which was vitally important to us when we went searching for our yogi. We did not want a YMCA yoga class but a comprehensive introduction to yoga and meditation as an approach to our overall health, and found that through Steven.
"Steven Vincent's yoga teaching coupled with his genuine care has virtually healed my chronic lower back pain."

I have been a dedicated Yogi for 15 years. Through the diligent study and practice of yoga, I have healed multiple dislocations to both knees, chronic lower back pain, sacroiliac joint problems, insomnia and asthma and have also calmed and centered my once very turbulent mental and emotional bodies. I teach Pranayoga, an integrated practice blending elements from a range of Yoga practices: the movement linked to deep yogic breathing of Ashtanga and Vinyasa/Flow, the attention to alignment of Iyengar and Anusara, the strength development of Power Yoga, the pulsation and the emphasis on function rather than form of Viniyoga, as well as Chakra energy work, Tai Chi and Buddhist and Raja Yoga meditation. |

Nothing gives me greater joy than to have others benefit from whatever realization and growth I may receive through yoga. The role of the external teacher is to guide the student to hear, listen to and trust the voice of their own Inner Teacher. I provide my students with practices, tools, techniques and insight into the Yogic process. Students are then guided and encouraged to apply those tools and techniques as part of a total, ongoing development. For me, teaching Yoga involves a personal connection with each and every student as an individual. I am available to my students for consultation and insight on Practice. Whether by email or telephone, I am always happy to help a sincere student of the path of Yoga with a question, problem or concern regarding Sadhana (Yogic Process). Your highest realization on the path is my concern and passion. |

| The illusions, delusions and deceptions of the ego mind cause us a world of suffering and pain. The practice I teach is rooted in the ancient traditions of Yoga with a grounding in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sutra 1.2 reads: "Yogash citta vritti nirodah; Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind". The practice of Yoga is approached with its true intent: as a vehicle for fulfilling this condition of mindful awareness and transcendent beingness. |

I have learned valuable lessons and skills from many different teachers here in the Los Angeles area and have practiced many the major styles of Yoga: Iyengar, Ashtanga, Bikram, Anusara, Kundalini, Power Yoga, Vinyasa Flow and others. The teachings and practices from these and many other sources, including Buddhism and Taoism, are distilled into the practice that I call Pranayoga. It is a Practice evolved from constant, ongoing, persistent, dedicated Sadhana (yogic practice). Some spiritual Teachers who have influenced my practice include: Jack Kornfield, Thich Nhat Hanh, Sahaj Yogi and Eckhart Tolle. |

Pranayoga is a practice of Strength, Ease, Mindfulness and Spiritual Awakening. It encompasses and involves every aspect of being: body, mind, emotions and spirit. Pranayoga proceeds from and develops deep internal strength and energy in syngergy with ease and "letting go". There is a cultivation of non-attachment and non-aversion together with active engagement and energetic expressiveness. Patanjali says in Sutra II.46: Sthira-sukham asanam: "Asana (posture) is simultaneously easful and energetic; effortless and strong". When I work with your physical body it is with a dedication to your mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. The subtle energy body (Pranamaya Kosha) is key to the development of the yogic Self, and as your Yoga teacher I guide you in the activation and direction of Prana at all levels.
My personal practice has grown tremendously as a result of my teaching. I love to take the energy generated by my students and put it into my practice so that I can bring it back to them in class. The well-being of my students is my motivation in this. I hope that if you should choose to study Pranayoga with me, that I may be able to bring you all the benefit possible.
I regularly take workshops to expand my experience, knowledge and ability, including recent studies with Shiva Rea and Kaustub Desikachar.
I also help to lead the Peace Is Every Step-LA, which organizes monthly walking meditations inspired by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. I am an occasional contributor to LA Yoga and Ayurveda Magazine.
I teach a full schedule of Group Classes at Angel City Yoga in Studio City, Yoga Loft in Woodland Hills, Yoga at the Village in Glendale, Mark Blanchard's Power Yoga in Studio City and Yoga House in Toluca Lake. I also offer Private and Semi-Private Classes and accept Home and Workplace Visit appointments as well.
